I have a signed painting by DERYEK FOSTER ,of two sail boats. I know it is very old. Any info would be app?

This painting is oil on canvas, two sail boats/yachts in a storm…..on one of the sails is a four digit number….and is older than I am. I have found very little about the artist, Deryek Foster, (that is how the painting is signed….it is also numbered)and in excellent condition.
I know he was a early 1900′s painter and then the trail goes nowhere and everywhere……..PLEASE HELP……..THANKS

his name is most likely deryck foster! born in 1924. his paintings (ships and harbour scenes) sell for $600-1600 at auction.
