After Hurrican Katrina we bought a house and on the property is a boat that had floated up. I posted it’s LA registration numberd on the found boat web site but have had no responce. I would like to get a clear title for the boat and fix it up. Know one can seem to give me a answer on how to do this. Any sugestions

Look up property laws, and call a lawyer.
Most lawyers give a free 1st time consultation.
As with any vehicle, you can file for a salvage title at the title agency in your town. Price varies from state to state on salvage titles. Here in Ohio the salvage title price depends on the price of the car, motorcycle, or as in this case a boat.
If you just want to get rid of it, then abandoned boats are picked up by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. They will take it away and contact the last known owner in case they want it.
If you want to obtain ownership of the boat, you will have to go through a lot of rigmorole because even though the boat is located on your property, the owner still owns the boat, even after all this time. You will need to place a lien on the boat, and then go through some steps to gain title of the boat to satisfy the lien. The best thing to do is contact a lawyer to help you with that.
Notify the Coast Guard that you’re salvaging the vessel. They will be able to tell you what needs to be done in order to claim it as salvage, since it’s abandoned.
